Llamas & Pyjamas Brunch

When life gives you Llamas, make Llamanade! That’s exactly what we did when our little River turned 5. We celebrated in true Llama fashion, wearing none other than our pyjamas. Absolutely no Llama Drama was had when we put together this unforgettable brunch.

Running late? No prob llama! Just roll out of bed and you’re ready to go. All of our guests arrived bright and early in their favorite jammies and bedhead looks.

Decorations:

I decorated the house with all kinds of fun little details fit for all our Llama Queens and Kings. I made the most adorable Llama garland out of paper plates that I hand painted in various shades. I added colourful little harnesses and saddles to each of them, and strung them around the house. I also cut out cacti from different shades of green card stock and hand drew X’s on them to give the look of spines. The color theme was bright pink, lime green and white. I made tassels out of plastic table cloth and strung them from the kitchen island.

We picked up the post adorable cactus napkins from Amazon and Llama plates, tablecloth and paper cups too. Also from Amazon, I found an inflatable cactus that I put on the dessert table. Party City provided us with the balloons, which we placed in bunches in the corners to bring in some color to the space. At Bulk Barn I was delighted to find the perfect Llama piñata that I stuffed with all kinds of yummy surprises and used as decoration before allowing the kids to tear it to pieces towards the end of the party. I also scattered mini pj’s around the tabletops as an added detail.

Brunch:

For Brunch, I made a Chicken & Waffles Bar with a variety of syrups to choose between, fresh whipped cream and sprinkle, chocolate chip and blueberry toppings. We also served bacon, sausages, hash-browns, croissants, muffins and fruit. In addition to having a craft of none other than Tim Hortons coffee for the adults, we made a Shirley Temple Bar for the younger guests to help themselves too. No tummy was left hungry!

Games:

To let our guests digest their food before moving on to dessert, we entertained the kids with some good old fashioned Pin the Pyjamas on the Llama. They had a ball trying to stick the teeny tiny pj’s on the Llama, and we were surprised that they did as well as they did. Afterwards, we let them have at ‘er with the piñata, which was loaded with individually wrapped candies for them to share with their parents (wink, wink)

Dessert:

Then, dessert was served at last. I put together a tempting array of sweets that even the fullest of the guests couldn’t resist. I made cactus sugar cookies that I iced with fondant and hand piped little x’s on top with white royal icing.

I made darling llama cupcakes that were wearing pink heart shaped glasses. The ears and the glasses were made out of fondant using miniature cookies cutters, and then I piped around the glasses and cupcakes with pink and white buttercream frosting. I was really happy with how they turned out, and was even happier that no one spit them out!

I made Llama wool with Maple flavored cotton candy that I purchased from the local farmers market, and piled it high into a clear bowl. I also picked up vanilla dip doughnuts from Tim’s and stuck llama head pics in each one which looked like llama pool floats.

Finally, I made a 3 layered chocolate cake that I filled with marshmallow filling and Nutella. I frosted it with vanilla Buttercream Frosting and sprinkled graham cracker crumbles on top. To make it a true desert dessert, I found adorable cactus shaped candles, and made my own llama cake topper which I adhered to the top with wood skewers that I cut to the proper size.

Loot bags:

No party would be complete without loot bags. I cut out little Llama heads and glued them onto white paper bags. I made little saddles and bridles to match the garland I mentioned earlier. The bags were stuffed with toys and treats that I picked up from Party City and Dollarama including paddle ball, yo-yo’s, slap bracelets, gummy’s and more.

When all was said and done, it was time for Alpaca to alpaca their suitcases and go home, although some of our guests said no, llama stay. So the party continued into the late evening, and a wonderful time was had by all.
