Beetlejuice Halloween Decor

“Come mister tally man, tally me banana. Daylight come and me wanna go home,” Harry Belafonte.

This song conjures up so many warm, happy, fuzzy feelings. It brings me right back to my childhood, where my siblings and I would curl up on our family sofa and watch one of our all time favourites, Beetlejuice on VHS. This classic movie wasn’t just reserved for Halloween, as we watched it on repeat throughout the year.

As the song reminds us, home is definitely where I want to go, especially around Halloween. We are a big time Halloween enthusiasts in our household. Truth be told, Halloween is my husband’s all-time favourite holiday. Halloween is such a fun and creative holiday for us all, and I love everything about it except the super gory stuff! As far as Halloween home decor, Jeff and I have been building up our Beetlejuice collection for quite some time now.

Beetlejuice is known for its distinctive black and white striped pattern. Oddly enough, our wedding had a black, white and lime green color scheme. I didn’t put it together at the time and it was not at all intentional, but come to think of it our wedding had a rather Beetlejuicy vibe to it. So, we have been able to reuse our black and white striped tablecloths that I had hand sewed for our reception tables, and some of our other wedding decor items in and our home at Halloween time to bring in the Beetlejuice feels. Taking inspiration from my floral arrangements and bridal bouquets, we like to place lime green Mums in and around our home in the Fall to bring in some vibrancy and a bit of freshness to our space too.

One of my favorite finds is this gigantic Inflatable Sand Worm that we picked up on Amazon a couple of years ago. We like to stick it on our front lawn at Halloween to grab the attention of our little trick-or-treaters. This definitely draws a crowd each year, and we’ve had to step up our candy game so as to not disappoint.

This year, I was delighted to find this Lydia Animated Sidestepper to add to our Beetlejuice collection. This 11 inch doll sways from side to side, dancing to the notorious Beetlejuice song “Jump In the Line,” by musical legend Harry Belafonte. It’s so perfect, and I truly can’t wait to get decorating our floating shelves for Halloween.

I plan to use this adorable Adam plush doll to add to our hand painted Beetlejuice throw pillows on our living room couch. I can’t get enough of his little eyeball fingertips! There is also a matching Barbara plush doll with floral dress that I’m going to purchase as well so that I have the pair to display together.

On my coffee table, I’m going to place the “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” along with the Adam and Barbara Light up LED figures. These figures are sold as a pair and are the perfect way to infuse a little Beetlejuice into your home.

Last but most certainly not least, this life sized Beetlejuice animatronic is unmatched. It is 6 Feet tall and comes with everything you need to bring him to life. It comes with 5 iconic sayings straight from the movie, and will undoubtedly be a cherished addition to your Halloween collection for years to come.

For Story’s first Halloween, we dressed her up as Beetlejuice in a little black and white onesie and lime green tutu. My eldest, River, was Lydia and wore a red tulle skirt and patching long-sleeved shirt and red Hunter Boots. Jeff and I were Adam and Barbara masks that we picked up on Amazon and paired with clothes we found in our closets. I found little Styrofoam eyeballs at the dollar store and I cut holes in them just big enough for Jeff to slide his finger in. What a perfect costume to commemorate our love for all things Beetlejuice.

Well, I hope I’ve convinced you to shake, shake, shake things up a little in your home Señora and make Beetlejuice a part of your Halloween decor ritual.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!
