‘Tis The Season

Well Halloween has happened, and Christmas is in full swing at our house. This is my first year blogging, and I’m quickly learning that I need to be one season ahead in order to keep up with my fellow bloggers. First it was Summerween, and now it’s Fallistmas, and before I know it it will be Winster or something like!

Way back in the day, I used to work at Michael’s Arts and Crafts store, and I remember when the Christmas haul would arrive in late Summer or early Fall. There was glitter everywhere, tree decorating, and an entire shelf of Merry Fish-mas the Singing Bass toys on repeat all season long. At that time of the year, I was usually still holding onto Summer for dear life, and my flip-flops for as long as possible even if that meant with socks. I was definitely not in the the Christmas spirit, and could never quite figure out what the rush was all about.

Spring forward 25 years, and now I finally get it. ‘Tis the season to get your jollies on early, and embrace the spirit of the season. To make the transition from Halloween to Christmas, I had a little retail therapy over the weekend. I visited a few of our local malls, and really took in their beautiful holiday storefronts. There were matching jammies on the manikins, trees all lit up and decorated with festive ornaments, shelves filled with the latest and greatest toys, and the smell of gingerbread wafting through the air (or maybe that was the smell of fresh baked cheesecake from Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake). In any case, it definitely felt like Christmas. It got me thinking about my blog and what I want to share with all of you over the holidays. I’m thinking seasonal recipes, Christmas gift guides, DIY decorations, kids crafts, gifts wrapping ideas, holiday fashions and so much more.

I hope you will follow along with me as I get in the Christmas mood, and inspire you to do the same. Let’s grab our festive holiday mugs, snuggle into our favorite onesies, carol-on and get to planning for what is sure to be the best Christmas yet. For, as Justin Beiber reminds us “It’s the most beautiful time of the year. Lights fill the streets, spreading so much cheer.” Merry Christmas y’all!
