Homemade Jello Playdough
J-E-L-L-O! I can remember the Jell-O commercial so clearly in my head. I remember singing the jingle out loud from the top of my lungs whenever the commercial came on the television, and dancing around my living room. It brings me back to a simpler time when Jell-O Jigglers were all the rage, and scrunchie socks and shirt knots too. Jell-O was the cure all in our house for any ailment; a highly effective placebo, indeed. Just a spoon full of jiggly Jell-O did the trick for just about anything.
Well, along came Jell-O Playdough which transformed homemade playdough into an aromatic, colourful, non toxic alternative combining our two favourites, Jell-O and playdough. Genius! It is truly like having a fruit punch of play dough in a rainbow of colors to play with. Homemade playdough is easy to make and is made from simple ingredients you’ll likely have in your pantry at any given time. Jell-O Playdough is a delightful way to engage your children in sensory play and encourage their creativity.

minutesMaking Jell-O Playdough is a fun way to get your kids into the kitchen with you. This playdough is super soft, non-toxic and scented! You can make a variety of colors using Jell-O powder, and you can combine playdough to create your own cool color combos. The process of making this Playdough is fun in and of itself, but afterwards the sky is the limit. You can enjoy making all kinds of wonderful playdough delights with your family and friends. Ingredients
1 Box Powdered Jello
1 Cup Boiling Water
1 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
1 & 1/3 Cups All Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Salt
2 Tbsp. Cream of Tartar
Directions
- Combine 1 Cup of Boiling Water with 1 Box of Powdered Jello, and mix until the Jello powder is dissolved.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of Vegetable Oil into the Jello mixture, and set aside.
- In a large bowl, add Flour, Salt and Cream of Tartar. Stir until Combined.
- Add the Jello powder mixture into the Dry Ingredients and stir the ingredients until play dough begins to form.
- Once the dough begins to form, remove it from the bowl and knead it with clean, dry hands. Add flour as needed if the dough is too sticky.
- Repeat this process for each color of play dough that you wish to make. Have fun making all sorts of wonderful play dough creations.

Notes
- When you’re finished playing with your Jell-O Playdough, you can store it in an airtight container to keep it from drying out. This playdough can be refrigerated. If it becomes too sticky at any point, just add more flour.
