Gender Reveal Cookies

When I found out that I was pregnant with baby number four, I wanted to do something special to share our baby’s gender with those closest to us. I’d seen time and time again couples setting up a picnic blanket in a park using wineglass’s to cut into elaborately decorated vintage cakes that were filled with pink or blue icing. While I was tempted to do the same and follow this trend (beautiful as it was), I opted for something a little more unique and less conventional. So, I came up with the idea of making Triple Decker Confetti Sugar Cookies iced as baby faces that are filled with pink or blue sprinkles (depending on gender). They were what we called surprisingly delicious, and stacked full of fun!

First we started with our kids. You should have seen their faces when on the count of three they all bit into their cookies and watched as the pink sprinkles poured out. Yay, a new baby sister is on her way! What could be more delightful.

Afterwards, my husband and I along with our three kids piled into the SUV and delivered dozen of cookies to our closest friends and family to share our exciting news. The cookies were a huge hit, and everyone that we gave them to felt so special to be in on our little secret. What a sweet surprise!

It’s these special moments in our lives that deserve to be celebrated. Whether it’s your first or your last, rejoice in this wonderful news and share your excitement with others. I encourage you to step out and do something different that feels special to you, and avoid doing what everyone else is doing as tempting as it may be. After all, you are special and unique and so is your little one, and that’s something worth celebrating.
