Star Wars Party
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away our son Oxford turned Obi Wan years old! To celebrate his birthday I had to use the Force and some Jedi mind tricks to make a party that was memorable & filled with treats straight from the galaxy’s edge! So do or do not (there is no try). Use these ideas to make your next Star Wars party really Ewok and Roll and don’t complain if my cookies are a bit Chewy!
Grand Entrance:
We had a ginormous life sized Storm Trooper balloon greeting guests as they arrived. Oxford stole the show with his hand knitted Baby Yoda beanie that I found on Etsy. His sisters were also dressed for the occasion in their Darth Vader and BB-8 jammies that we picked up from the Disney Store. My husband diverted some of the attention away from Ox when we showed up with his limited edition Chewbacca Adidas sneakers.
Decorations:
Amazon was our go to for all things Star Wars including table cloth, napkins and paper plates. I handmade white tassels to hang from the dessert table out of a plastic tablecloth that I picked up from Dollarama, and I interchanged Darth Vader and Storm Trooper images over top. I hung a “The Force Is Strong With This One” garland that I cut out using my Cricut machine above the dessert table and a large image that I had printed of Baby Yoda. Additionally, I decorated with any Star Wars figures that I could find, some of which doubled as birthday gifts for our little guy.
Sweet Treats:
My Princess Leia and Baby Yoda cupcakes were really out of this world. I used black gum-balls for Baby Yoda’s eyes and Jute Burlap Ribbon from Amazon to wrap around as his robe. I used a small leaf cookie cutter to cut out Baby Yoda’s ears and hand painted them with pink food color. Also available on Amazon is the heart shaped sprinkles that I used for Princess Leia’s mouth. Her hair space buns were made from none other than Fudgee-Os that I glued to the sides with buttercream frosting.
The sugar cookies I made were hand-piped with royal icing. I picked up this Star Wars Cookie Cutter Set from William Sonoma, but you can definitely find something similar on Amazon.
I made gingerbread cookies into Wookie Cookies by making messenger bags out of royal icing and white chocolate chips. The Lightsabers were made by dipping pretzel sticks into melted red and blue Candy Melts. Oxford’s cake was a basic vanilla cake with black buttercream frosting and decorated with white fondant accents and a Star Wars logo that I hand cut out. The fancy gold candles and sparkly black number candle were from Party City.
All in all it was a great celebration of our little Phantom Menace and all of the little details had my kids exclaim “YODA Best Mom Ever!”
